Sundari Waterfall Sundarijal
This Sundarijal VDC is home to Nepal's second hydroelectric power plant, the Sundarijal Hydropower Station. With a capacity of 640 kilowatts, it was constructed in 1992 B.S. (1935 A.D.) by the then Rana Prime Minister Juddha Shumsher.
Due to the severe shortage of drinking water in the Kathmandu Valley, Sundarijal also serves as the main gateway for the Melamchi Drinking Water Project, which aims to address this scarcity. The project involves bringing water from the Melamchi River in Sindhupalchok to Sundarijal in Kathmandu through a tunnel approximately 27.6 kilometers long.
Out of this, 6 kilometers of the tunnel is being constructed starting from Sundarijal, while the remaining 21.6 kilometers is being built from Sindhupalchok and other locations.
