beautiful water
Sundarijal is a convergence of religious, natural, and man-made heritage. It is home to nearly two dozen religious sites, including Bagdwar, the temple of Sundarimai, and the ashram of Sage Dadhichi. According to the Bagmati Purana, the water from this place is considered essential for the Bolbam pilgrimage.
One of the main attractions here is the dam and reservoir of Nepal’s second-oldest hydroelectric project, which is not only visually stunning but also culturally and functionally significant. This reservoir has twofold importance—first, its beauty, and second, the confluence of the Bagmati and Syalmati rivers.
The water flows through beautiful stones, sometimes hidden and sometimes visible. After receiving the blessings of Goddess Sundarimai, the path continues toward the pond where water is collected for electricity generation, which is equally impressive.
